SHOPPING THE BALENCIAGA WAY

Nicolas Ghesquière is following in the footsteps of Brit designer Stella McCartney with the launch of the first Balenciaga e-commerce site. Due to go live on May 15, the site is said to feature bags, scarves, shoes, sunglasses and jewellery. But don't get too excited yet - hard as it is not to - as plans so far are for the US only. "It is an extension and adaptation of the existing BALENCIAGA.COM site," a spokeman for the design house told WWD.

Stella McCartney is making the move to e-commerce - but UK devotees will have to put their excitement on ice, as the website is unveiled exclusively in the US today. As part of the brand's global growth, the site will offer US customers the chance to buy Stella McCartney's mainline, as well pieces from her collaborative collections with Adidas and Le Sportsac and her fragrance and accessories lines, WWD reports.

Fans can also access behind the scenes footage and imagery in a special "Stella's World" section.There's no need to despair for the Brits among us, however - the website is due to launch on McCartney's home soil this autumn.
