NYE party.

the handmade photobooth turned out pretty great.  looking back, our apartment is just too small for it to be perfect but we had fun with it.  and that's all i wanted. 

the above shot is the backdrop which i LOVE.  since you all know i do everything on a tiny budget, i staked out some 50% off fringe at rite-aid and bought all they had in gold, silver and white.  this came to about $12.  i chopped it up and added sparkly gold ribbon i had on hand.  free!  then i made the props by printing images out, cutting them, adhering them to cardboard backing and added sticks. free! so for $12, we had a fun little addition to our party.  here are my favorite shots:

re-zzzzzz-olutions?

i've been seeing lots of people blogging about their resolutions. i'm reluctant to do so because i think they're a bit personal and also (let's face it) boring.  something did happen a few days ago, though, that got me thinking about resolutions.  i received a message from someone i hadn't heard from in so long i no longer had their number.  it was an apology of sorts.  i welcomed and accepted it, simply because i am now so far removed from the pain of the situation. but something about it was still sort of eating at me over the past few days.  it made me realize what i already knew... i don't ever want to be the person who has to apologize to someone years later.  i want to handle situations - even the tough, icky, ugly ones - with respect and honesty.  sometimes you fuck up and do the wrong thing but all you can do is tryreallyhard to be cool, your best, honest. it's simple i think.

that's what i want for this year.
