diy balayage.
DIY dip dye/ombre/balayage hair. this trend has been around for quite awhile. i remember first seeing it on ashlee simpson and drew barrymore. see:
seemed easy enough so i gave it a shot. I bought an at-home highlight kit ($10). I then sectioned off my hair and painted the bleach on the bottom 2-3 inches. I left it on a good, long time then rinsed it out in the sink with warm water. I dried it then applied more bleach to just the tips of my hair and left it on for about 30 minutes. it's subtle and i love it.

Resolute.
I know resolutions aren't cool anymore, but I have actually found them to be one of my favorite parts of a new year. Yeah, most are forgotten by March, but I never give up on trying.
Sounds intense and dramatic, but I am determined to make 2012 the best year of my life.
Step accordingly...
- Pay off my credit cards. Basically, most of my shopping is very spontaneous, and I want to be more in control of my purchases. Cash for everything this year.
- Go to a club. I know, I know... what? Yeah. Never been to one. Not really my style. But I want to get totally trashed, and dance the night away. Lord knows I have a few friends who would love to make this happen.
- Continue to work on eating habits. Cliche? Yup. Valid? Absolutely. I don't like to talk about my issues much, but suffice to say, I've started Weight Watchers, lost about 5 lbs. the healthy way so far, and have about 120 lbs. left to go. I may not lose it all this year, but I will PROMISE myself to not give up.
- Get Passport renewed. In fact, I believe this week, I will have this accomplished.
- Travel. A Lot. On my short list: Central valley, ca and L.A., NYC/Estler family, Spokane/Seattle, Eagle, Id.
- Do not cut hair. at all. for the whole year.
- Get a full time career. No more living paycheck to paycheck.
- Read more books, see more films. Life beyond the internet and work.
- Get more sleep! Make an effort to get a full 8 hours of beauty sleep.
- Go to the damn doctor and dentist. Seriously. It's been like, 3 years since I've been to either.

NYE party.
the handmade photobooth turned out pretty great. looking back, our apartment is just too small for it to be perfect but we had fun with it. and that's all i wanted.
the above shot is the backdrop which i LOVE. since you all know i do everything on a tiny budget, i staked out some 50% off fringe at rite-aid and bought all they had in gold, silver and white. this came to about $12. i chopped it up and added sparkly gold ribbon i had on hand. free! then i made the props by printing images out, cutting them, adhering them to cardboard backing and added sticks. free! so for $12, we had a fun little addition to our party. here are my favorite shots:
ps. i have another DIY coming up for you later. inspired by maggie (z's sis), i gave myself ombre hair. i LOVE how it came out:
