My Summer Thrift Store Finds

I've loved thrifting for a long time but I found some particularly good things this summer :)

baggy knit cardigan. vaguely rasta colors. super cozy. $4.50

bonus: it also has the coolest buttons ever...

i like to call these my pantsy pants. i paired it with a cami tucked in, a long necklace, and a pair of casual sandals. wasn't originally going to get these, but i thought about them for an entire week so i went back thinking they would be gone but they were still there! $4

BEST SUMMER PURCHASE EVER. i love vests. i love tribal print. i love hoods. it's perfect. $3.50

basic denim skirt but unique because it's this pretty rust color. hits me above the knee. i wear it high waisted with a cute belt and a long necklace but i know i can style this a million ways. believe it or not, only 50 cents.

the sunglasses were $3 or 4 i can't remember.
the scarf underneath isn't the usual colors i go for but i couldn't stop looking at it. one of those things i just love for no particular reason. 75 cents.

the belt on the left is really nice old worn leather. it looks like a hook design. found it in the men's section for $1.50
99 cents for the belt on the right. needed a smaller belt to go with my 50 cent skirt and i hadn't found the left one yet. i like it cuz of the unnecessary extra metal piece on it.

the second best thrift find ever. it's perfect. enough said. $4

100% silk cropped tank. it hangs really nicely and is the perfect amount of cropped. looks great with the 75 cent scarf above or long feather necklaces (now that i have 3 of them...)

THIRD BEST thrift store find ever hahahaha. reef brand so probably from pacsun. looked em up online and they go for $38-44. a bit of arch support, rubber bottom with foam and leather cushioning, sturdy, braided tan leather. they fit right into my wardrobe. $3

i wore out my boat shoes so much they weren't worth lugging back to the states so i trashed them in ireland. i've been looking for boat shoes or oxfords to replace them but all the ones i want have been like $70 and i'm poor so i settled for some slightly-too-big loafers from the goodwill men's section until i find permanent replacements. Dexter brand with foot bed so they probably retailed for $120. I paid $5.

they're wrinkly because i had to take them off to take this picture haha. got these levi shorts at a local thrift store for $2.50

tamales and dragons and wizards oh my

Our weekend was fabulous. We did all the things I hoped and more.  Highlights included our trip to the farmers market where we had green chili and cheddar tamales, maple soda, and homemade mint ice cream.  We scored 3 delicious bottles of wine, fresh made queso fresco, and lemonade sweetened with honey.   We made an extended visit to the Getup Vintage where I spent a little and got a lot of fantastic girly things… Zach also surprised me with something awesome I had been eyeing at the antique store.   I am going to post photos tomorrow.  We ended the night with a game of gin rummy, loads of food, and new friends that are pretty great.   I went to bed with a big smile on my face.
Today when I got to work, I was asked to join the office’s dragon boat team as a paddler for the annual DragonHeart Festival in Burlington each year.  The race benefits cancer and is a full day event with dragon boat races, performers, and tons of people.  I am so excited to be a part of the team and participate in the race.  Check out more about the festival and charity here or watch the great video below!
Tonight we are off to see harry potter.  I’m excited! And a little sad it’s the final movie.
 Have an excellent day.

Summer Essentials: Skin and Makeup

Skincare: I have dry skin, that is also very prone to hormonal breakouts. Sometimes, less is more, and in the summer, I live by that saying.
I cleanse at night using my Clarisonic Mia with Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel. If I have blemishes, I dot on some tea tree oil, and very gentle astringent, and always finish with a coat of pure vitamin E oil to heal.

Makeup: I try to keep my face makeup as light as possible, while still evening out my skin tone and covering any blemishes. After coating on a good primer ( the Korres one smells amazing), I cover my face with Laura Mercier Tinted moisturizer with SPF 15, and use her concealer pot to do hormonal damage control if I need to. The bronzer addict I am, I never leave without at least a dusting. Bobbi Brown in Golden Light is the only one that dies it for me. For my eyes, I amloving the Naked Palette, but then again, who doesn't? It is so versatile, I sue it everyday. Apply your favorite mascara, and done!
