girl crush friday classic: parker posey

every since i saw dazed and confused (which came out in 1993. what??? 17 years ago? how is that possible?) anyways... ever since i saw that movie, i've loved parker posey.  she's just so fucking cool.  and since i also love christopher guest films, i've gotten my fill of parker over the years.  and, she's also in my guiltiest guilty pleasure movie of all time: you've got mail!

we should always know that we can do anything.

my favorite favorite thing to do is go to shows. i’m not musically inclined in the least yet i always leave feeling inspired. not to form a band and hit the road, it’s more of an “everything is going to be ok” feeling because something as beautiful as music exists. and the magic you feel when your favorite band plays your favorite song… and whether there are 10 other people in the room or 3000, connections are happening.

awhile back i was one of the lucky ones with tickets to the sigur ros show at the bank of america pavilion in boston. it was a warm september evening and the icelandic band of my dreams was on stage. it was a breathtaking show and on a superficial note – my friend fletcher who was also there noted “have you ever seen such a well-dressed crowd?” true!

in jan of this year, sigur ros announced they would be taking a break to do things like hang with their families and pursue solo careers.  the singer, jonsi birgisson recently released a solo album called go.  i'm a sucker for falsetto whether it's coming from justin timberlake or passion pit so it's no surprise i swoon for jonsi.  my favorite song so far is go do.
 it's beautiful, magical, ethereal.
i can't wait to hear it live in less than 1 month!

cellar door.

as you know, this past sunday was easter.  since my brother lives in brooklyn and my parents were being low-key, i decided to skip easter at home this year and make alternate plans.  in hindsight, i should have slept in then met some girlfriends at the otherside for pitchers of sangria but instead i thought this would be a good idea:

this photo comes from the postsecret blog... and is the exact same costume i wore while working as the easter bunny for the hotel i work at.  it was four and a half hours of kids screaming and me sweating.  I also couldn't seem to master the face that i didn't need to smile for pictures while inside the suit.  nope, not me, i just kept smiling away for the photos.  one mom even whispered into my floppy ear: "your suit is really scary." oh believe me, the screeching children made me well aware.

I mine as well have been wearing this:

stand me up and maybe i won't be so small.

quick post today since werk is bizzy... but this is important.  i recently found myself in a spot where i felt intimidated/out of place/like i didn't "fit in." which is bullshit, because it was with a group of people i didn't even want to fit in with.  and before i go on, i realize feeling intimidated and out of place is really more about yourself than anything or anyone... but there are certain situations and people who go out of their way to intimidate you.  i won't ever understand this or them.

when you have two choices, (because, really REALLY there are only ever two choices) between being hurtful or being welcoming, what inside of someone makes her decide the former? i'm not sure i even want to know and i certainly don't care.   i just want to say that when you're faced with this situation, choose to be kind. be kind.  people will remember you for your warmth... you'll be a bright shining star in their world instead of a gloomy, mean monster.

be the bright shining star. i promise you won't regret it.  for all your life.

i love you.

Começo.
