blog break: movin'

hey all! the blog might be a little sparse for the next week-ish.  we've got lots to do before we head out so wish us luck. 

oh, and to all the haters who have had harsh words regarding my move from boston>vermont>indiana: chill out.  a few years ago my pretentious east coast self may have thought something similar.  but this me, this person who has changed so much over the past few years, just has to smile at your small-mindedness and keep the greatness of the midwest all to my self... i have always supported all my friends in the decisions they've made; regardless of my personal thoughts.  so please pay me that courtesy as well. 

and that's all i will say about that. 

four more days. mixed feelings.

I woke up this morning and though "whoa. We have 4 days left in vermont.  This is super duper weird.” In many ways, I feel like I just got here but in so, so many other ways I feel like I’ve lived a lifetime in tiny Montpelier, vt.  While I am wholeheartedly excited for our new move, there are things I will miss very much. 

1.       Our first place together.  There were some tough moments in our teeny one room studio apartment but I will forever cherish our first home and I know I’ll miss it.

2.       My coworkers.  They took me in like a surrogate family.  Nuff said.

3.       It’s pretty.  The mountains, the snow, the swimming holes.  It’s simply beautiful looking out my window and seeing it all. 

4.       Our little town.  At times, Montpelier frustratedme.  The simple fact I couldn’t walk down the street without knowing almost every person I passed was both annoying yet also comforting.  Our favorite bars, bartenders, movie theatres and vintage shops will be hard to leave.

5.       My friend(s).  For awhile I hung with Zach’s friends.  Then I met Kelsey! We are different in so many ways but she has been my closest friend here or anywhere over the past 9 months.  I will miss our slaughter-rita nights and girl talks. I wish I could pack her up and bring her!

away we go... again.

so... we're moving! to the midwest! more specifically, fort wayne, indiana.  zach got a sweet job at a fantastic restaurant so we're going with the gut, following our hearts and hittin' the road.  oddly enough, this is my 5th time moving in about 2 years so i'm feeling pretty calm about everything. i've got the packing part down to a science and the adventure part is still as fun as ever.  there's things i'll miss about here: my family, mountains, east coast-ness.  but the excitement for the new outweighs everything else.  plus, fort wayne has hobby lobby and is thisclose to chicago. 

mama jude's feeling a little bummed so i sent her this fabulous print with hearts in boston, MA, fort wayne, IN and Spiringfield, MO (where my brother lives) so she'll remember we're only as far as we feel. love you mama.

i'm back!

i have been MIA for SO long!  Here's what I've been doing (to be followed by a photo update):

1. tying up loose ends and having a tearful last day at work.  the flowers and the cards and the kind words from people who became my family meant the world to me.

2. packing up my brother's house... which was my home for the past 4 months... i swear my family might be ready to kill me - i have moved so much this year; but there they were with boxes and helping hands.

3. meeting zach in montpelier to pack his house up.

4. packing for fort wayne and chicago, getting 1 hour of sleep and spending a blissful week with zach's family and friends.  i think it went well; i loved them... i just hope they liked me!

5. moving into our first place together.  it has exceeded my expectations in every way. hanging with your best bud every day.

the big news???  I AM MOVING! to Montpelier, VT!!!  This will be my 3rd time moving in a year; i'm beginning to feel a little nomadic.  it's a big move for me, i've lived in the boston area my entire life except for a 6 month period when i resided in gold coast, australia.  the other biggie... i'm living with a boy! for the first time!  i'm very much in love and very happy my first (and last) time living with a boyfriend was reserved for him. he's one very special dude... want proof? today he called me and told me he was buying something for our new apartment... "what, what???" i said.  "tara, i'm buying us a cornhole set."  case closed.  this man's a keeper.
