treat yo self.

one great thing about being home is the ability to... shop!  one day zach, my mom and i went to a movie, dinner and outdoor shopping.  it was warm and lovely.  i made a few purchases including zach's christmas gifts, the cutest schmoopiest onesie for max and yes, i treated myself to a couple new things.  thought i'd share.
first up, my favorite, favorite, FAVORITE article of clothing i have purchased in a very long time. i can almost guarantee most people will hate it, but that's obviously part of the allure for me... it's a silk, eyelash print blouse.

a sweet new dress (it's navy & cream):

one for one.

new TOM's for our household. black classics for me, holiday red plaid for z.  these are my fifth pair (!!!). z's are lined with thin shearling.  they're his "house shoes."  too cute.

pendleton

Yesterday we headed up to Burlington for lunch with our friends.  We ate amazingly delicious sandwiches at the Red Onion Cafe -  we all had the “legendary” Red Onion Sandwich: a combo of turkey, bacon, Granny Smith apples, red onion, sundried-tomato mayo and Grafton Maple Smoked Cheddar on homemade sourdough.  It was massive and I ate every bite.
After lunch we walked up Church Street; it felt like another world to be in a place with tons of people, actual stores, a starbucks and well, life.  We passed an urban outfitters which normally wouldn’t be a big deal but I felt like a moth to the flame.  I drifted in and spent way more money than I should have in 10 minutes flat.  My standout purchase was a new bag (above).  Have you heard of Pendleton?  I had and when I saw that urban was carrying their products, I knew I’d be walking out with something.  Pendleton is known for their quality wool fabrics and Navajo-inspired designs.   My new Pendleton bag and Minnetonka boots are probably where I will cut off my Native American obsession since I want to avoid looking costume-y but have a look at my favorite Pendleton pieces along with some other Navajo prints I love.
pendleton shorts:
 jeffrey campbell wedge boots
pendleton weekender (if only my budget was unlimited!)
 men's pendleton vest
 staring at stars scarf

dress you up.

as i said, i have a baby shower tomorrow for my bestie.  it's at a super cute restaurant in her town, at dinnertime.  i had planned on wearing something spring-y and bare-legged but the 50 degree rainy temps have caused me to reconsider.    here's what i've decided to go with:

you dig?

golden globes > football.

as my boyfriend so sweetly texted me: J E T S Jets Jets Jets! last night, i reminded him that no girlfriend of his would be watching football when the golden globes red carpet is on.  i had other plans for today's post but last night's golden globes was so silly and ridiculous, i had to.  ricky gervais is just so awesome.  anyways, here are my favorite and least favorite looks of the night.

ok first up kyra sedgwick looking really great:
christina aguilera.  this may be worst dressed of the whole night for me.  what is happening to her? celebrity terror watch. too tight, too much make-up, too gross.
anne hathaway: she looks cool and also gorgeous.  i really love her. ryan seacrest said her dress looked like tiny cd's.  that man's got a way with words i tell ya.
mmm mm.  he may be nuts, but he is gorgeous.  love the long hair. LOVE IT.  and what a wacky accent.
clair danes: this dress is great. i knew it was calvin klein as soon as i spied it.  but jeesh, me thinks she's a little too tiny.
another calvin klein for miss emma stone.  i miss her red hair.  she seemed so much cooler with it.  she looks good though.
yes. helena bonham carter.  christian siriana's boyfriend brad walsh tweeted upon her entrance: "Helena Bonham Carter and her mismatched shoes on the Golden Globes red carpet just rendered the rest of the night meaningless. Shut it down." ha. i like her guts.
january jones. she gets so much crap for being dumb and not awesome enough to date jason sudeikas.  that is a terrible thing to say.  so i may not love this dress, nor do i hate it, but she gets my vote just 'cuz.
jayma mays. what the hell happened here?  how did this:
end up looking like whatever showed up on the red carpet.  jayma mays is the best dressed, cutest glee cast member.  ick she looks like a skeleton now.
dreamboats.  jason segal and jimmy fallon.  i wanna hang with them.
my friend tim said the funniest thing about this julianne moore look: "Julianne Moore looks like Denise Huxtable tried to make her a Gordon Gartrell." see below
leighton meester: some said too matronly, i loved it! maybe the slit is a tiny bit too high is all.
eesh. looks like a paper bag.  too bad, she's so awesome.
blergh.  this may be old fashioned thinkin' but if i just broke up with my husband and he may or may not be smooching sandra bullock, i'd wanna show up lookin like... well, not like this.

dodgeball update. game face.

dodgeball update!

new developments:

1. our games will be played on mondays at 730 at dodgeball of boston (together in motion) at 1 broadway in arlington.  come watch!  first game is this monday, the 24th!

2. the league is sponsored by the joshua tree so we'll be there hanging out on mondays nights after the games - there's cheap pitchers and wings so even if you hate us, there's still reasons to show up ;)

3. our team color is.........................MAROON! we easily got the best color and i picked out the rest of our uniforms... see photos below.

4. i am extremely happy to annouce our team name: "Not in the Face." how perfect! (name credit goes to chris maki. let's hope he's as good at dodging balls as he is at thinking of double entendres!)
all players must play in socks only, no shoes!

i'll be wearing these shorts... the boys are arguing with me but i'll get them in tiny gold shorts if it's the last thing i do!

some people are wearing these... but i'm thinking braided pigtails for me!

girl crush: friday. this is taylor jacobson.

i love all things bravo tv. kelly cutrone is genius, the more housewives the better, and patti stanger is one nasty monster but she keeps me tuning in. my first love though, lies in the rachel zoe project. this is where today’s girl crush comes from. It’s taylor! I love her I love her I love her.

She’s inspired many of my outfits and her hair is absolute perfection. She always came across as quite the villain but I think she was great. She was fearless sometimes, or insecure or bitchy or super sweet and sometimes silly. And who isn’t like that? really, robots… look inside, haven’t you had days when you feel like you could do anything? raaahhhhh! and other days that feel like everyone is picking on you, your coffee tastes like poo, you made a mistake at work and your friends are all too busy? well i have a lot of those days and if they were recorded and put on tv, you would surely dislike me.

back to taylor. like i said, her style is what i hope mine would be if i was very wealthy. and her hair, ahh swoon! i have always coveted girls who can pull of white blonde hair and the shade of taylor’s is exactly what i would love to have. i adore how it’s always sloppy and messy… I bet that takes her awhile. Enough chatter – here’s some photos!

this photo below is EXACTLY what i love about taylor... it's outfit/hair/style perfection. it's like the pandora of outfits. (if only i could speak navi.)

and last - here's a close-up of that magical hair. i want!
