the fourth drink instinct is taking over.

on sunday, i spent an epic day with my bestest friends.  the days events included, but were certainly not limited to: bbq at soul fire (i had pulled pork - yum!), lots of beers while a friend recorded his podacst (check it our here), a new piercing, followed by many, many drinks at deep ellum.  while at deep ellum, i was in cocktail confusion - the menu was filled with drinks i'd never had.  i started easy with a dark & stormy... but soon i was coerced into trying my first ever mint julep.  they even served it in the traditional pewter glass:

thing is, i thought it tasted like a dirt sandwich.  later, i told someone i had tried my first ever mint julep and his response was something like "yum, those are really good during the kentucky derby." this got me thinking how certain drinks really do taste better at certain times/at certain events.

like champage on nye:

or bloody mary's in the morning. i totally love bloody mary's with my delicious hungover brunch but i have trouble drinking them at any other time... (refer to nighttime bloody mary drinking vomiting incident of '08).

(tremont 647 bloody mary. salt & pepper rim!)

Then there's the pumpkin and cranberrydrinks in the fall; eggnog, peppermint, gingerbread, cider cocktails at christmastime.  there's hurricanes and caipirnihas at mardi gras. palomas and margaritas for cinco de mayo:

and who doesn't love the summer: frozen drinks, scorpion bowls, sangria, and frosty beers at outdoor shows!
