it's hard to want to stay away.

in my heaven, there would be soy lattes, banana bread and death cab. i’m pretty sure if i had those 3 things, eternally, all my needs would be met. one night over dinner with my only friend whose love for death cab can rival mine – for all of my eggplant and all of his lasagna, we talked about two lines of lyrics from “blacking out the friction.” anyone eavesdropping was probably wondering how they got the one table next to mr. & mrs. mcnerdlson. But what would we do without friends who can see right into our little souls?

death cab for cutie is from bellingham, wa. the band’s name comes from a song by the bonzo dog doo dah band in the beatles film: magical, myster tour. – you may also remember seth cohen’s affinity for the band when the oc was still on tv (how does anyone know what bands are cool anymore?) the singer songwriter and guitarist from death cab is ben gibbard – also one half of the postal service. he is my biggest and only celebrity crush (ok, ryan gosling too) and on the opportunities i’ve had to see death cab live, i am absolutely transfixed by every note/every breath/every word. seeing a band you love with all your heart and guts and molecules is… well, you know how it is:

ben gibbard recently got engaged and married. to who? zooey deschanel! even though she was a terrible monster in {500} days of summer, she’s pretty awesome and also super lucky to be the one waking up in ben gibbard’s nook. zooey is an actress – almost famous, elf, 500 days, but also sings in her band she&him with m.ward. here’s ben and zooey. they’re so lovely it gives me tummy aches.

if you're new to death cab - start first with the photo album.  it's my favorite.
