ACNE IN NY AND PARIS

Hot on the heels of launching the latest issue of its bi-annual paper, Exoticism, Acne Jeans seems intent on taking over the fashion world having opened two new stores – or "studios" – in Paris and New York last week. Chloe Sevigny, Hamish Bowles and model Caroline Winberg were just a few of the suitably stylish names who turned out to celebrate the launch of Acne's Green Street-based store in New York that, bespoke in design, comes complete with bookcases that double up as changing rooms (push the shelf to enter), oversized glassworks designed by Ingegerd RĂ¥man, and large tanks that display the label's accessories and clothes.

"New York for me is such a serious and sub-cultural city, and yet so artistic. I wanted to be playful and happy with our new store – bring something naive and pop – a space to experience and be happy in," explained Jonny Johansson, the label's co-founder and creative director."Paris is the fashion capital of the world with the most beautiful stores. We did not want to create just another fashion store and wanted to bring a Swedish tilt to the most beautiful of traditional Parisian spaces – the Palais Royale," he added of the second store in Paris.

My opinion on the subject...

I am not a Swede but I live in Sweden and I think that Swedish fashion scene has become more vibrant and more interesting in recent years. Acne Jeans is one of my favourite Swedish fashion brands. Their cuts and designs are simple and refreshing. As simplicity equals elegance to me, Acne Jeans can definately bring an element of elegance and sophistication to any wardrobe. Their clothes are very well made and prices are actually pretty decent. It is affordable luxury, at least here in Sweden. You can buy Acne Jeans collections at www. acnejeans.com
